Pavilions Swords is operated by Hammerson and Irish Life. We're working toward Hammerson's group-wide Net Positive 2030 target, making a measurable positive impact across carbon, water, resource use and socio-economic impacts by the end of 2030. The wider community and place-making framework that sits alongside this is called Positive Places. Here's what we're doing at Swords to get there.
In 2025, Pavilions Swords reduced its electricity consumption by 58.3% compared to our 2019 baseline. We also generated 2,650,000 kWh from solar panels on the roof of the building in 2025. Gas was eliminated entirely in June 2023.
Water consumption fell by 22.5% in 2025 compared to 2019.
85.1% of waste from Pavilions Swords was recycled in 2025, with zero going to landfill.
We supplied 116,435 kWh of energy to customers through our ten Electric Vehicle Charging Points in 2025. The chargers are on Levels 0, 1 and 3 of the multi-storey car park.
We have two beehives on the roof of Pavilions Swords, maintained by a fully trained beekeeper based on site.
In our perennial gardens, we've installed two Bug Hotels made from 100% recycled materials. We use no pesticides in any of our outdoor spaces.
In 2025, we landscaped the 3,000 sq m concourse at the Malahide Road entrance, replacing hard surfaces with extensive planting: 20 mixed multi-stem trees (Betula, Acer and Crataegus), 1,152 evergreen shrubs, 1,024 herbaceous plants, 2,100 spring-flowering bulbs, and a double-staggered Pyracantha hedge boundary.
The project also delivered new modular seating pods, tree and planting units, smart bicycle pods, and a covered Transport Hub with 18 bicycle and scooter spaces. A new bus stop and further concourse improvements are due in 2026. All 321 tonnes of construction waste was recycled.
Pavilions Swords is working toward Hammerson's group target: Net Positive for carbon, resource use, water and socio-economic impacts by 2030. We'll keep updating this page as our progress continues.
